The video has gone viral online. The boss of a small American company resigned on Saturday, July 19, after being filmed hugging one of his colleagues at a Coldplay concert . "Our leaders are supposed to set standards for conduct and accountability, and recently, those standards have not been met," Astronomer said in a statement announcing its boss's resignation.
As Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was about to start a new song at a concert in Massachusetts, USA, on Wednesday, the stadium camera filming the crowd stopped on a couple embracing. Upon realizing they were being filmed and visible on the big screen, they immediately broke up and hid in a panic. "Either they're having an affair or they're very shy," Martin said, amused.
The images quickly flooded social media, and internet users began investigating the identity of the couple. The man in the video, Andy Byron, who is married, heads a New York startup called Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the woman, is not his wife but the company's human resources director. Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot had been suspended while an investigation was conducted, Astronomer announced.
According to Business Insider, the name "Byron" was searched for more than 2 million times on Google in 24 hours. The company said it was "committed to the values and culture that have guided it since its inception" and "Andy Byron has submitted his resignation and the board of directors has accepted it," the statement read.
