Women artists in the spotlight: Famm in Mougins celebrates its first anniversary and unveils its next exhibition

The Famm (Women Artists of the Mougins Museum) celebrated its first anniversary. Since its inauguration in June 2024, the institution has attracted a large audience and generated media interest, as Bérénice Antoinette Robaglia, the museum's director of development and public relations, points out: "We've received press from all over the world, such as Le Figaro and Vogue magazine , as well as national and international television channels. We've received a lot of positive feedback; it's a powerful symbol of equality in art."

Driven by a mission to rehabilitate women artists, often neglected by history, the works of collector Christian Levett, presented at the Famm, are eclectic. From surrealism to contemporary photography, from Berthe Morisot to Nan Goldin by way of Frida Kahlo. "Women artists have often been ousted from textbooks and galleries. Today, initiatives like ours allow us to believe in it," adds Bérénice Antoinette Robaglia.

Elizabeth Colomba: Rewriting History with Brushstrokes

The museum's next exhibition, scheduled for October, will feature Elizabeth Colomba, a painter known for her portraits that reinvent art history through the eyes of a Black woman, as evidenced by one of her works, The Wheel of Fortune , already present at FAMM.

"Her work is a powerful reappropriation of classical canons, with a decidedly modern sensibility. In her paintings, she often depicts Black figures, particularly women, in interiors that historically were not associated with them. She is very inspired by tarot cards and the spiritual aspect," explains the museum's director of development and public relations.

In the meantime, the Famm will be offering numerous art workshops for children this summer, led by Victoria Delgado, a mediator. "The idea is to inspire young people by immersing them in the world of the artists on display, before inviting them to create their own," explains Bérénice Antoinette Robaglia. This program confirms the museum's commitment to diversity and artistic education. Chloé Rouil

FAMM, in Mougins, open every day. Admission: from 5 to 16 euros.
