“I tried everything except this”: a young man’s fight to find a work-study position at La Défense

Without a contract, there's no engineering school, but there's no question of failing: after 800 standard applications, Yassine Boussekine becomes a sandwich man to find a company that will take him on as a work-study student.
By Olivier Bureau"I'm definitely making a difference, but we're in the final stretch..." Since the beginning of July, Yassine Boussekine has been walking around the La Défense district ( Hauts-de-Seine ) with a sign where QR codes lead to his CV and cover letter. In September, the young man is due to join an engineering school in networks and computer security. All he's missing is the most precious thing: a company that will take him on as a work-study student . With no answer since March, he decided to make contact, at the heart of the reactor, the largest business district in Europe.
In just a few days, his slender figure became a fixture on the landscape. "I've tried everything except that," he says. Yassine is prepared to make many, many sacrifices to achieve his Grail. At 21, this resident of Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d'Oise) has a bachelor's degree in computer science with honors. A course that allowed him to enter EFREI, a school of nearly 5,000 students based in Villejuif, in Val-de-Marne ... on the other side of the region.
