2025 Tax Deadline: Last Days for 10 Million French People, Here's the Deadline City by City

2025 Tax Deadline: Last Days for 10 Million French People, Here's the Deadline City by City

For many French people, there are only a few days left to file their tax returns. Here are the dates you need to know.

Attention, the final stretch is upon us for some ten million French people. Many taxpayers have only a few days left to finalize their tax returns and submit them to the Treasury. Open since April 10, this process is mandatory and must be completed under penalty of tax penalties.

While the DGFiP sets a different deadline depending on where you live, 5 million households must submit their tax returns to the tax authorities by Tuesday, May 20. This includes all those who file their tax returns on paper. The deadline for filing at La Poste is set for that day, at 11:59 p.m.

Furthermore, all those living in departments 1 to 19, or 9.5 million households (including paper declarations), are required to complete their declaration by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, May 22. The same applies to all French people living abroad, or just under 900,000 people.

For other households, the deadline varies depending on the city you live in. You can quickly find it using our search engine further down in this article.

To find the deadline in your city, simply enter your postal code below and click "View Date." It will then appear. It's best to note it in your calendar, as late filing will result in financial penalties.

Please note: this deadline only applies to online declarations. A different date applies to paper declarations (see below). Furthermore, the deadline for non-residents of France is Thursday, May 22 .

What is the deadline for submitting your paper tax return to the tax authorities in 2025?

Around 10 million French people still file their taxes on paper. But be careful, the deadline for sending documents to the tax authorities is not the same as for taxpayers who file online. The paper version must be mailed no later than a few days before the first online tax return deadline. The exact date has been announced: it will be Tuesday, May 20 at 11:59 p.m., regardless of the department.

The calendar by department

For the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, which includes Rennes, the tax authorities have set the deadline for Wednesday, May 28. On that day, it will be possible to complete the form until 11:59 p.m. Only those filing digitally can wait until this deadline.

For Meurthe-et-Moselle, taxpayers must file their tax return by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th. After this deadline, the Treasury may apply an increase in the tax due. It's therefore best to note the date in your diary.

In the Eure region, taxpayers must submit their forms to the tax authorities by Wednesday, May 28. It will still be possible to submit the form on that day, up until 11:59 p.m. After that date, it will be too late.

For the Nièvre department, the tax authorities have set the deadline for Thursday, June 5. On that day, it will be possible to complete the form until 11:59 p.m. Only those filing digitally can wait until this deadline.

In Doubs, households requiring tax returns must submit their returns to the tax authorities by Wednesday, May 28. It is recommended to do so on time to avoid penalties imposed by the tax authorities.
