Cyclone Chido in Mayotte , Garance in Réunion , floods in the Var region in October and again last month . The storms continued unabated last year. According to France Assurances, the cost of climate-related events in France will reach five billion euros in 2024.

This is less than the 2020-2024 average (5.6 billion), but much more than the average for the years 1982-1989 (1.5 billion). Above all, this places 2024 in 9th place in terms of costs since 1982 when the natural disaster regime was created. This is not without consequences for home insurance premiums. They are increasing by 8 to 12% this year and the gaps between departments are widening.
