Consume less but better and thus produce less waste: This is the goal of the online portal "Re!" that the canton of Jura has just launched to help its citizens promote the circular economy. The site encourages the repair of objects rather than their disposal, the purchase of second-hand equipment, the rental, or even the donation of items that have become useless.
To this end, the portal offers a host of addresses, events, and tips to help Jura residents consume differently and more sustainably. "It allows everyone to learn about existing local initiatives and local stakeholders who offer products or services that reduce their environmental impact," the canton explained on Tuesday.
Behind the portal is a network of organizations and individuals active in the circular economy and waste reduction. "It already has around thirty committed members," the canton rejoices.
In addition, a partnership has been established with the French-speaking Consumer Federation (FRC) to identify local addresses that promote sustainable consumption. The list is updated regularly. However, public input is welcome via the portal or by email at [email protected], the canton specifies.
Finally, it should be noted that the online portal is supported by the canton since it meets the objective of the Jura Climate Plan to develop and structure the civic circular economy in the region.
