Numerous leisure centers offering a variety of group activities have opened in recent years. Located in suburban areas, they cater to a young clientele and offer affordable prices.
In the middle of an industrial zone in the Paris suburbs, wedged between a hypermarket and an auto repair shop, lies a strange hangar. The 2,600-square-meter space transforms with a click. An augmented reality karting track has just appeared: aboard a 100% electric kart, a group of friends race around a fictional track projected by lasers.
This very real race in a virtual environment , inspired by a famous video game, has a cost: 20 euros for 15 minutes. The concept is booming in France, and the franchise called "Battle Kart" has opened 15 tracks in France in less than five years, including six in 2025 alone. These new leisure centers have one thing in common: they are all located in peri-urban areas. To attract this younger clientele, a new park has chosen to combine as many activities as possible in a single location: bowling, darts, mini golf... eleven disciplines are offered over 10,000 square meters in the heart of a shopping center.
