Less than two years after its opening, Monop' has closed its doors in the heart of Antibes.

Less than two years after its opening, Monop' has closed its doors in the heart of Antibes.

"Permanent closure of the store." For several days in Antibes, the doors of the small Monop' store, which opened in 2023 at the time of the launch of the new Marenda-Lacan district in the old town, have been closed.

When we knocked on the window to find out more, a woman popped her head out: "No, sorry, nothing's official yet, we don't want to communicate."

However, at the time of its installation, the store manager felt that the Lacan crossing, on which the store is located, had great potential with the Place des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance and the cinema a few meters further away.

Replaced by a cultural sign?

Finally, since the district was built, it is true that the crowds have not been rushing in and that the shopkeepers have often regretted the lack of signage to attract passers-by from Rue de la République.

Is Monop' closing its doors for economic reasons? When contacted, the company declined to answer this question and confirmed that there are no plans to move the franchise elsewhere in the city.

According to our information, a cultural establishment could well be established there in a few months... Perhaps a good way to bring some life to the area.
