New lines, renewed fleet, double-digit growth... How Transavia took off

The low-cost airline, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, has grown significantly in recent years. Now 18 years old, it occupies an important position in France, alongside the industry's giants, and intends to continue growing.
By Victor TasselOn May 12, 2007, a Boeing 737 with green seats took off from Orly Airport for Porto, in northern Portugal. It was the first flight of Transavia France, a subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group founded a year earlier, and younger sister of Transavia Holland, a Dutch carrier founded in 1965.
Eighteen years later, CEO Olivier Mazzucchelli will make the same journey this Monday, accompanied by Anne-Marie Couderc, Chair of the airline's Board of Directors. "18 is the age of majority, it's worth celebrating!" says the CEO. Now a young adult, the airline has nothing in common with the Tom Thumb of its early days.
