One in two French people plan to go on holiday this summer, with an average budget of 1,800 euros.

For French people planning a summer getaway, the average budget is €1,820. Restrictions on "pleasure" spending will be on restaurants, shopping, and activities (70%) or by shortening their stay (30%).
France remains the majority destination, chosen by 68% of vacationers, who prefer individual seasonal rentals (39%), followed by hotels (26%) and free accommodation with relatives (20%).
Camping retains its loyal customers (17% for long stays), particularly among those traveling in France (21%).
When asked "if you were paid to go on holiday, where would you go?", 28% of respondents chose a heavenly beach, 23% chose the great outdoors, cut off from the world, 20% chose a cruise around the world, but 3% chose "to Grandma's, because her food is worth any 5-star hotel."
The “workation” (working from a vacation spot) appeals to 24% of vacationers, a figure that rises to 45% among 18-34 year-olds.
As for vacationers' "worst nightmares," theft (money, papers, phone) tops the list (54%), followed by accommodation that doesn't exist or doesn't match the description at all, and falling ill far from home (41%). Bad weather is at the bottom of the podium (35%).
