SNCF: these stations that serve no purpose

In Saint-Martin, near Annecy (Haute-Savoie), there is a station, two platforms and a train with passengers . If the TER stops, the doors remain closed. "It's not a stop that is intended for passengers," reveals the driver. If the train stops, it is to let another one pass. Six minutes of stoppage, five times a day, the town hall is a little disoriented.
If the station reopened, the inhabitants of the commune would be ten minutes from Annecy. By car, with the traffic jams, it is three to four times longer. The agglomeration has just launched a study but no reopening before 2030.
In Ardèche, the Teil station, closed in 1973, sees empty TER trains pass through, without passengers. In total, eight to ten trains per day pass through the Teil station, without passengers. For technical reasons, the TER which connects Nîmes (Gard) to Pont-Saint-Esprit (Gard) must go up to Teil to turn around. That's 73 km without passengers because the Teil station does not meet standards.
