The Nice Production School is building the future of young people

Giving young people who have dropped out of school the chance to learn differently, to develop solid skills in the industrial sector through practical teaching. Above all, to have a diploma and a job at the end of the training. This is the concept of the Je Fabrique Mon Avenir Production School in Nice, which was officially inaugurated last Wednesday. Led by the UIMM Sud Corse [Union of Industries and Trades in Metallurgy], it joins those of Istres and La Seyne-sur-Mer. Located at the Campus Sud des Métiers in Nice since September, when the sixteen students of its first class started, it has a workshop of some 300m2 in which it trains young people aged 15 to 17 in electrical trades free of charge.

After two years of free training, they will graduate with a vocational certificate in electrician and many job prospects, promises Olivier Lenci, director of the Production School.

"Industry is made up of 1,500 professions and it is a sector that welcomes everyone, the best as well as the worst, women, men, people with reduced mobility... , insists Marcel Ragni who, at the head of the UIMM Sud Corse, led this project. We need electricians in all companies. For me, who is self-taught, I have realized a dream with this school but now, we must perpetuate it." If it is financed by the South Region, the State, the apprenticeship tax to which are added the CCI Nice Côte d'Azur, the support of the TotalEnergies Foundation and companies such as Ragni, Resistex, Aluminor... who place orders with it. This allows students to work on real-life cases and above all to then find the fruits of their labor on sale in stores.

And Marcel Ragni launched an appeal: "We need the support of all business leaders to place orders" so that the second cohort, which is aiming for 30 students, can also practice on practical cases.
