Nathalie Duval and her daughter chose a guesthouse perched five meters above the ground for their stay in Haute-Garonne. The accommodation offers high-end services in a lush setting. The home spans 100 square meters and is made entirely of wood with amenities worthy of the finest hotels. From the double shower to the custom-made linens and the personal wine cellar, everything has been thought out down to the smallest detail. To treat herself to a night's stay, the mother, a physiotherapist, saved 450 euros. Building luxury guesthouses is a gamble that has paid off for the owner. This former insurance broker started his business just a year ago.
There are 21,000 guesthouses throughout the country, with an average of three rooms per establishment and a turnover of €30,000 per year. With their high-end services, guesthouses have what it takes to rival hotel complexes.
