"The French president has many arguments to explain that Donald Trump's interest is to defend Ukraine," says MoDem MP Bruno Fuchs.

"I think the French president has many arguments to explain that the interest of the president of the United States is to defend Ukraine," said Bruno Fuchs, MoDem deputy from Haut-Rhin and president of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Assembly, guest of franceinfo soir, Monday February 24. Emmanuel Macron is at the White House in Washington to meet Donald Trump.
The MP mentions in particular "the loss of influence of the United States in the months or years to come" if Donald Trump "associates himself with people like Vladimir Putin, like the president of North Korea". He affirms that in this case, "very quickly, the image and influence in the world of the United States will suffer the consequences".
Bruno Fuchs also recalls the "historical link" that binds the United States to France, since the Second World War, where "Americans died for peace and freedom" . "That is a legacy" , insists the MP, before qualifying: "If President Donald Trump really goes beyond the agreements and global governance as it emerged from the Second World War [...] we are really going into the unknown".
