2027 Presidential Election: Emmanuel Macron Calls on His Troops to Action Rather Than Personal Ambitions

A surprise guest at the "Jeunes en marche" meeting at the Cirque d'hiver, the president blocked the path of Gabriel Attal, who had just taken a new step towards a presidential candidacy.

The time for succession has not yet come. Emmanuel Macron called his camp to order on Saturday, July 5, during a meeting, urging them to "act" rather than looking ahead to 2027. "Let's act, stay united, be responsible and work for the country," chided the President of the Republic, a surprise guest at the "Jeunes en marche" (JEM) meeting at the Cirque d'hiver.
"If in the next two years we spend our time talking about 2027, doing nothing, being in the calculations, being in the divisions" , then "none of us" will be able to win the presidential election, he insisted, clearly moved by the 10 years of this youth movement created even before his own, En Marche!.
Facing the assembled Macronie - two of his former Prime Ministers, Élisabeth Borne and Gabriel Attal, the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet, several ministers and deputies - he told the JEM that he would "need (them) in two years, in five years, in ten years" .
With these remarks, Emmanuel Macron seemed to cut short the momentum of the new leader of the Macronist Renaissance party, Gabriel Attal, who had just taken a new step towards a presidential candidacy. "This July 5, 2025, I want to propose to you to lay the first milestones of a new path for our youth and for our country. This path is the one that, with you, with Renaissance, I wish to propose to the French people for 2027," he promised, making "a vow to do everything" to lead his supporters "in two years on the path to victory."
The two men have been notoriously at odds since Gabriel Attal's time at Matignon and the president's decision to dissolve the National Assembly on June 9, 2024, for which he was not consulted. "I hear too many debates today that are already thinking about 2027. We will have to think about it. But why, why in 2015, did you stand up? (...) For the country," Emmanuel Macron continued.
