Cutting social assistance to drug dealers: this member of parliament from the Alpes-Maritimes wants to extend the measure already in force in the Alpes-Maritimes

Consistency and "legitimate firmness" : this is how Alexandra Martin describes her proposed law. The Republican MP for the 8th constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes region wants to punish drug dealers in France by preventing them from receiving any social assistance throughout the country.
"It seems unacceptable that an individual who receives income from drug trafficking can continue to benefit from social advantages," adds the parliamentarian, who is relying on the experiment in the department underway since this summer, initiated by the mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard - inspired by a precedent in Isère (38).
"This system is based on unprecedented cooperation between public prosecutors' offices, police and gendarmerie services, and social organizations. [...] Its extension to the national scale is now essential," she assures.
Evictions from social housingThe parliamentarian wants to go even further. By punishing repeat offenders of "other aggravated offenses and felonies" with the same measure. The text also defends the expulsion of delinquents and criminals via local elected officials by recommending "giving mayors the possibility of directly referring the matter to the judge for the purpose of terminating the lease of social housing."
"National solidarity is not an unconditional right when the laws of the Republic are flouted ," summarizes Alexandra Martin, who sees in this proposed law a lever to "dissuade repeat offenses and criminal activities."
