Europe releases an additional 53.3 million euros for the New Line

Europe releases an additional 53.3 million euros for the New Line

The New Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Line is on track. This Thursday, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Regional Planning welcomed, in a joint press release, the new funding granted to France as part of the 4th round of calls for projects under the European Connecting Europe Facility (CEF-N) program, which aims to promote growth, employment, inclusion, and competitiveness through the interconnection of digital, transport, and energy networks. Of the €140 million granted to France, €53.5 million will go to the LNPCA, a key project of Renaud Muselier, President of the South Region.

The multimodal interchange hubs of Marseille Saint-Charles and Saint-André were selected, "illustrating the strategic nature of this rail axis on a European scale," for a total of 7.5 million euros in European funds. Nice Airport will also benefit from support of 3 million euros.

At the same time, €43 million will be allocated to the level 2 deployment of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) on the Marseille-Ventimiglia line. This European system is designed to replace the various rail signaling systems existing across Europe with a single system that allows trains to run uninterrupted between different countries, thus promoting the competitiveness of the rail sector.
