In Saint-Maximin, the vice-president of the CCAS expelled from the premises

Yet another dramatic turn of events in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume. Elected in 2020 as third deputy mayor, Nathalie Cano had already had her social affairs delegation withdrawn last April. But now, she is unable to go to the Social Action Center located at the town hall, of which she is vice-president, outside of opening hours. This Thursday, the lock on her office was changed. Without her being notified. She discovered it... once she was in front of the door, around 1:30 p.m. "When I arrived, I learned that I couldn't have the key. And that I had to leave at 2 p.m., as the town hall closes at that time."
Nathalie Cano, furious, refused to leave the premises. She quickly denounced the situation on social media. Three municipal police officers intervened at around 2:40 p.m. to force her out.
Between sadness and anger, on the forecourt of the town hall from which she was chased a few minutes earlier, Nathalie Cano says she doesn't understand and denounces "relentlessness" : "As vice-president, I was in charge of housing, I received people in difficulty, I had the signature for the Aux 3 Tilleuls nursing home. I came two to three times a week to the CCAS premises: Monday afternoon for appointments, other times for emergencies. Sometimes even until ten o'clock in the evening, in particular to find a solution when a woman is a victim of domestic violence or during a fire. The mayor, Alain Decanis, has already called me at 2 o'clock in the morning and that's normal, I'm not complaining. I fell into social issues a long time ago."
After the warning, the exit doorAfter stripping her of her social responsibility, the chief magistrate met Nathalie Cano in his office in May. He then informed her that he no longer wanted her to handle the various tasks inherent to the CCAS. Alain Decanis then sent her a text message informing her that a different organization would be put in place, given her remoteness.
Having since had no further contact with the mayor, the elected official has nevertheless continued her actions, when possible. "They removed all the things from my office! I no longer receive summonses for the nursing home even though I am a member of the social life council. I continued interviews at people's homes, I only came to the CCAS when I had no other choice ," she admits. And then, about ten days ago, the mayor noticed..."
Although her social vocation does not stop at the CCAS, the woman who is also president of the association Action Solidaire de Proximité does not intend to give up the structure: "I will not let it happen. I will fight to continue to fulfill my missions as vice-president!
The mayor explains himselfFor his part, Alain Decanis, who was on leave when the developments occurred, insists he is within his rights. "I withdrew her social affairs delegation. She can no longer represent me in the authorities or sign in my place! Vice-president of the CCAS is an honorary title. No mission is attached to this role, except that of replacing the mayor at his request. It's written in the deliberation. I told her that I no longer wanted to see her at the CCAS. I also told the agents, and yet she continued to come. I didn't know what she was doing there; it was beyond my control, even though I am responsible for what happens at the town hall. So we changed the lock. Since she refused to respect the agents' hours, the municipal police intervened. She no longer has any social prerogatives. She is an ordinary citizen and, therefore, had to leave at closing time."
