Metz-Nancy. Lorraine confirms its tourist appeal

All smiles, Christophe Thiriet lists the first trends in tourist numbers in the Metz metropolitan area. President of the UMIH of Moselle (Union of Hotel Trades and Industries), the hotelier makes no secret of his satisfaction, reinforced by the fine summer weather: "We're seeing a 10% increase with interesting prospects for the rest of the summer," he agrees. This is enough to revive a season that got off to a good start, albeit abruptly dampened by the autumnal character of the last half of July. "Stays are getting a little longer, around 2 to 3 nights in hotels, but remain dependent on the weather," notes the Metz native, also welcoming "the great return of Asians" who had deserted the area during the pandemic. However, the majority of bookings concern local and European customers: French, Germans, and Dutch people on their way south via the A31.
