Is the political crisis in France over? Not quite, Swiss columnist Paul Ackermann believes in Le Temps, but a form of stability has returned. Emmanuel Macron is preoccupied with geopolitics, François Bayrou is surviving despite his record unpopularity, and the political parties have abandoned the strategy of chaos. But for how long?

France is doing better than before. The wording may seem provocative, given how widespread decline is when it comes to analyzing France's evolution. But we still need to know which "before" we're talking about. Before Macron? Before the early legislative elections? Before the Olympic Games? Before Bayrou?

In recent weeks, with the arrival of this anniversary, analyses of the effects of the much-criticized dissolution of the National Assembly in June 2024 have multiplied. Generally enough, it was said that this misunderstood "grenade" was a bad idea and that no one wanted another one in the coming months.

It must be said that the election campaign andMichel Barnier 's short reign [as Prime Minister] were far from reassuring, with this new, fragmented Assembly and untenable parties playing on threats of censure. They ended up bringing down this short-lived government for no real reason, other than to perpetuate the chaos.
