Student petition against Duplomb law breaks records on the Assembly website!

A student, Éléonore Pattery, is behind this petition against the controversial bill reauthorizing certain deadly pesticides. The threshold of 200,000 signatures was exceeded in eight days. If it reaches 500,000 signatures, the law could be re-debated in a public session, at the discretion of the National Assembly's Conference of Presidents.
On July 10, a student unknown to the general public, Éléonore Pattery, 23, submitted her petition online, " No to the Duplomb Law ." It quickly reached 100,000 signatures, the necessary threshold to be published on the Assembly's website. Following this, the petition went viral, reaching 200,000 signatures within three days.
The text of this petition calls for " the immediate repeal (and) the democratic review of the conditions under which it was adopted" , as well as "citizen consultation of stakeholders in health, agriculture, ecology and law" .
If it reaches 500,000 signatures, the Duplomb law could be placed back on the agenda of the National Assembly and debated in plenary session at the start of the parliamentary term (from September) at the discretion of the Conference of Presidents, which brings together the heads of the groups registered in the hemicycle.
The Duplomb law, initiated by the eponymous LR senator with the assent of the Minister of Agriculture Annie Genevard , is the result of a legislative hold-up : in the Assembly, the right-wing deputies had voted for the motion of rejection against their own text, to speed up the debates and pass through the joint committee , where they hold the majority.
The latter resulted in a final version of the law, which many associations had denounced as dangerous to the health of the French people, on July 2. Finally, it was adopted by the National Assembly on July 8 with 316 votes in favor, 223 against, and 25 abstentions. The left opposed it.
The Duplomb law notably allows the use of acetamiprid, a pesticide that is potentially carcinogenic to humans if exposed to it too frequently, as the vice-president of the League Against Cancer pointed out in the columns of L'Humanité .
My name is Eléonore PATTERY, I am 23 years old, and I am currently studying for a Master's degree in QSE and CSR (Quality, Safety, Environment / Corporate Social Responsibility).
As a future professional in environmental health and collective responsibility, I learn every day to apply what you—legislators—refusing to respect yourselves today.
The Duplomb Law is a scientific, ethical, environmental and health aberration. It represents a frontal attack on public health, biodiversity, climate policy coherence, food security, and common sense.
– This law is a dangerous act. For workers, people, ecosystems, ecosystem services, and for all of humanity. It weakens food webs and compromises the stability of our environment – on which we depend entirely.
We are what we eat, and what do you want us to eat? Poison.
📚 The great texts had already said it: The Brundtland Report, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MEA), IPCC reports, studies by the WHO, INRAE, Santé Publique France... All have been warning for decades about the consequences of policies that are destructive to life and health.
And yet, you persist in legislating against the general interest.
⚖️ A possibly unconstitutional act. According to Article L110-1 of the Environmental Code, the French State is the guarantor of environmental principles such as:
"6° The principle of ecological solidarity, which calls for taking into account, in any public decision-making having a significant impact on the environment of the territories concerned, the interactions of ecosystems, living beings and natural or developed environments;"
And Constitutional Law No. 2005-205 of March 1, 2005 relating to the Environmental Charter (JORF No. 0051 of March 2, 2005 page 3697) (annexed to the 1958 Constitution) in its Chapter 1:
“Everyone has the right to live in a balanced and healthy environment.”
By validating this law, you are potentially violating this constitutional right, and undermining the obligation of precaution, which is nevertheless enshrined in principle no. 15 of the Rio Declaration and included in our law.
I therefore oppose the Duplomb Law.
With this petition, I request: – Its immediate repeal; – The democratic revision of the conditions under which it was adopted;
– Citizen consultation of stakeholders in health, agriculture, ecology and law.
Today I am alone in writing, but not alone in thinking it.

Climate justice is our battle. One that unites environmental and social struggles to counter a capitalist system that exploits everything. Living things, the planet, and our humanity.
There is no inevitability.
- We expose lobby manipulation.
- We are challenging deadly climate denial.
- We highlight initiatives aimed at reducing environmental inequalities and social divides.
Support us. I want to know more.
