He wanted to be a novelist at 16, an actor at 18, a philosopher at 20. In a way, he ended up embodying a mixture of these three professions after having been a financial inspector, a banker, and Minister of the Economy. Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron, born in Amiens in 1977, is the son of a divorced couple of doctors. Perhaps the most intellectually gifted politician in Europe, he became the youngest president of the French Republic at 39, an office that crowns the splendor of his biography. Only twice, before and after this date, would he experience the bitter taste of defeat. Even if, in the second case, he still hasn't assimilated it.

His first defeat, which occurred many years ago, was when he was refused entry to the prestigious École Normale Supérieure (ENS), [founded during the Revolution and then] refounded by Napoleon. “I was too in love to seriously prepare for the exam.
