The three key points from the last Fréjus municipal council meeting

The three key points from the last Fréjus municipal council meeting

Back in the Riculphe room to discuss various items on the agenda of the last municipal council meeting which, although overshadowed by the controversial report from the Regional Audit Office , contained a number of interesting pieces of information. Focus on three of these deliberations selected by the Var-matin editorial team.

The opening of a new micro-nursery has been approved.

Since January 1st, any project to create, expand, or transform a private establishment welcoming children under six must receive a favorable opinion from the municipal council. Given the observation of "persistent tension between supply and demand, despite an already structured childcare network," Fréjus elected officials approved the request of the company Les p'tits mômes. The company wishes to establish a micro-crèche on rue des Îles d'Or and has submitted an application for approval to the Protection maternelle et infantile du Var for a total of twelve places, with a Paje (Young Childcare Benefit) pricing allowing parents to be reimbursed for part of the cost by the CAF.

"The manager of the structure is already active in two other micro-crèches in the urban area, located in Saint-Raphaël and Puget-sur-Argens, for which feedback from the municipalities is very positive, particularly in terms of management. The premises concerned were previously occupied by the O' comme trois pommes crèche, which left the premises in August 2024 due to their dilapidation and the impossibility of developing the reception capacity. The new project provides for significant rehabilitation work," specifies the municipal council meeting file. This work should amount to approximately 68,000 euros and should enable the new structure to meet current standards.

The Aubanel school extension is coming soon

Although initially expected to be completed between September and December, the Théodore-Aubanel nursery school extension project, estimated at around one million euros in 2024, is moving forward nonetheless. As a reminder, the former administrative building destroyed last summer will be replaced by four classrooms, a dormitory, a library, offices for management, a room for specialized territorial agents for nursery schools (ATSEM), and restrooms in a brand-new building with a floor area of 462 m². To implement this extension project, the municipal council approved the submission of the related planning permission application. No new delivery date for the site was specified during the meeting.

The Tour de Mare town hall annex will be enlarged

The city of Fréjus plans to expand the community center on the current site of the Tour de Mare annex town hall. This extension will include a sports hall with changing rooms, several rooms for cultural and craft activities, and a computer room, with a total floor area of 591 m². Outdoor toilets for bowlers and landscaping around the building with independent access to the multi-activity room will also be created. Here again, the city council has authorized the submission of the planning permission application for this project. Questioned by minority elected representative Katia Michelan on the cost of this investment, Mayor David Rachline indicated "a little less than two million euros."
