Zelensky discussed the "diplomatic situation" around Ukraine with Macron
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Saturday that he had discussed the "diplomatic situation" surrounding Ukraine with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on the phone, ahead of the summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump scheduled for Friday.
"We exchanged views on the diplomatic situation," Zelensy said on Telegram, adding that "it is really important that the Russians do not manage to deceive anyone again."
The meeting comes after the announcement of a summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska. The meeting will take place without Volodymyr Zelensky, who has continued to demand a say in the matter.
It is being hosted by Foreign Secretary David Lammy at his official residence in Chevening, Kent, where US Vice President JD Vance began his UK holiday on Friday. According to sources close to the British government, the talks are expected to last all day Saturday.
