Who are the three deputies declared ineligible and forced to resign?

Three MPs, Jean Laussuc, Stéphane Vojetta (both EPR, the Macronist party), and Brigitte Barèges (UDR, Éric Ciotti's party allied with the RN) were declared ineligible by the Constitutional Council on Friday, July 11 , "for a period of one year" and "automatically resigned" from their mandates. Consequently, by-elections will have to be held soon.
Jean Laussucq is a member of parliament for Paris, Brigitte Barèges is a member of parliament for Tarn-et-Garonne, and Stéphane Vojetta is a member of parliament for French people living outside France.
Jean Laussucq is accused of having paid "campaign expenses using his personal bank account" and of having allowed third parties to pay "directly a significant portion of the expenses incurred for his 2024 election campaign." The irregular expenses "represent 21% of the amount of expenses in the account and 10.2% of the authorized spending ceiling in the constituency" and amount to 7,030 euros, the Constitutional Council specified.
Jean Laussucq is a civil service executive and has been a member of parliament for the 2nd constituency of Paris since July 2024. A former parliamentary aide to Rachida Dati, he is a member of the Together for the Republic movement. At Paris City Hall, he sits on the Committee on Cultural Affairs and Education.
Brigitte Barèges was criticized for invoicing the campaign contributions of two staff members from her office at Montauban town hall, while she was mayor. She has been a member of parliament for the 1st constituency of Tarn-et-Garonne since 2012. A member of the UDR (Union for the Democratic Union of the Democratic Republic of France), she sits on the Committee on Constitutional Law, Legislation, and General Administration of the Republic.
Finally, the Constitutional Council criticised Stéphane Vojetta, elected in a constituency including Spain and Portugal, for having "irregularly" paid a "substantial part of the expenses incurred" during his campaign, in particular "transport costs" .
Stéphane Vojetta is a member of parliament for the 5th constituency of French people living outside France. A member of the Together for the Republic group, he is a member of the Economic Affairs Committee. He primarily advocated for VSEs and SMEs and worked on export issues and support for French people living abroad.
He made headlines last December with his surprising proposal to self-dissolve the National Assembly , calling for a collective resignation of the deputies. This was a snub to the elected officials who were demanding the resignation of Emmanuel Macron after the censure of Michel Barnier's government.
Partial legislative elections will be held soon to elect new deputies. Two other deputies elected in the July 2024 legislative elections had to put their seats back on the line following decisions by the Constitutional Council, in Jura and Saône-et-Loire .
