AC Milan-Como in Australia? UEFA will decide on September 11th.

AC Milan's match against Como on February 8th could be played far from San Siro. So far, it could even be played at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. The Milan stadium will be hosting the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, hence the idea of moving a Serie A match to a continent that appreciates and follows the Italian league with interest. The project is moving forward, with the next steps outlined by Lega Nord president Ezio Simonelli: "We are awaiting UEFA's approval, which will be issued on September 11th. I remain moderately positive, despite some opposition on the matter. As Lega Nord, we also have a responsibility to increase the product's visibility in countries where there is demand."
San Siro remains at the forefront of discussions. This time as a possible host for Euro 2032: "As of today, unless something happens, Milan won't be able to host them in its own stadium. I'm worried: I've also spoken to the owners about it, and we're aligned. My warning is also the warning of the clubs: however, as the League, we're confident that this decision will be made by September 30th and then we'll move forward with the new stadium, because it's in the best interests of the city, the teams, and Italy. Anything else would be a defeat for the entire country. And we hope this alignment of thought translates into alignment of action." Interestingly, Simonelli spoke as president of the Lega Calcio Serie A, no longer of the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A. "A necessary name change. The previous one was too long. And this puts football back at the center of the project, considering that around the world we're known as Serie A or Italian football."
