Banca Monte Pruno alongside culture: spotlight on democracy and participation with Sergio Rizzo

The fourth evening of the Festival delle Colline Mediterranee was held on Friday 4 July, in the enchanting setting of the Arena di Tenuta dei Normanni in Salerno, featuring Sergio Rizzo , one of the most authoritative journalists, editorialists and writers on the national scene.
The meeting – focused on the presentation of his latest book “2027. Escape from democracy” (Solferimo) – offered a profound and provocative reflection on the drifts of Italian politics, between climate change, abstentionism and the crisis of democratic representation.

A very current topic, addressed with lucidity and irony by Rizzo who, together with the journalist Eduardo Scotti , spoke with the journalists Mariano Ragusa, Tommaso Siani, Monica Trotta , the brilliant young Luca Cifarelli and Michele Albanese , President of the Board of Directors of BCC Monte Pruno , institutional partner of the evening.

On the sidelines of the meeting , President Michele Albanese declared:
“ Democracy is not a good acquired forever: it must be cultivated every day, with responsibility and awareness. Sergio Rizzo's book is an intelligent, pungent, but necessary warning: it reminds us that disengagement, indifference and abstention are not neutral acts, but choices that undermine the very foundations of our civil coexistence.
As Banca Monte Pruno, always close to culture and territories, we feel the duty to support initiatives that stimulate critical thinking, discussion and participation.
We believe in a living, thinking and participating community. Only in this way can we build a future that is truly worthy of our past ."
The participation of the public, attentive and numerous, confirmed the centrality of the themes discussed and the growing need for cultural moments that can combine beauty, depth and civil commitment.
Banca Monte Pruno renews its commitment to events that focus on the value of active citizenship, freedom of thought and care for public affairs, confirming itself once again as a cultural and social driving force of the territory.
