BYD and Inter Milan: Here are the new cars for the players and coaching staff.

After 18 years, Inter Milan has turned the page and abandoned Volvo , its main automotive partner since 2007. Serie A , which begins on August 23, 2025, will see a new brand join the Milanese team : the Chinese manufacturer BYD . This closes a cycle that made Michele Crisci , president and CEO of Volvo Italy , proud for the sporting results achieved, and which saw the Swedish brand (part of the Chinese group Geely ) strengthen its relationship with Milan. Now, however, things are changing: BYD will supply Inter Milan with over 70 cars , intended for the club's players, managers, and technicians. The agreement is valid for three years and, in the words of Giuseppe Marotta (Inter Milan president and CEO) and Alfredo Altavilla (BYD's special advisor), is the beginning of a promising joint journey. In the initial phase, the agreement will involve two models.
The first units of the Denza Z9 GT arriving in Italy will be delivered directly to Inter's players and technical staff. After its preview at Milan Design Week last spring, the BYD group's premium brand is ready to debut in Europe with this 5.20-meter- long shooting brake . In terms of engine options, there will be a choice between a battery-powered version, with three electric motors delivering a total output of nearly 1,000 hp , and a plug-in hybrid version, with a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing approximately 200 hp and three electric motors, bringing the total output to 860 hp . Thanks to its independently steering rear wheels, this technologically-rich flagship can move diagonally by 15°, rotate 360 degrees, and easily fit into tight parking spaces. In Italy it will be available by the end of the year, with a price yet to be defined but which will be above the top of the range BYD , which is currently 72 thousand euros .
BYD Sealion 7 is the first model that will be supplied to Inter 's players and staff. It is an electric SUV 4,830 mm long (the trunk has a load capacity of between 520 and 1,789 liters ) introduced on the market at the end of 2024. Three versions are available, from the rear-wheel drive Comfort , with a 313 hp engine combined with an 82.5 kWh battery, for a maximum range of 482 km (in the combined WLTP cycle) to the all-wheel drive variants AWD Design (with an 82.5 kWh Blade Battery that guarantees up to 456 km ) and Excellence (the 91.3 kWh battery extends the range up to 502 km ) with 530 hp . The latter are capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds , with a top speed of 215 km / h . The battery can be recharged by connecting the car to a charging station capable of supplying both direct current (three-phase, up to 11 kW ) and alternating current (up to 150 kW and, on the Comfort and Design , up to 230 kW, with charging times of 24 and 32 minutes respectively to go from 10 to 80%). The company also plans to create a limited edition version dedicated to fans and enthusiasts of the Nerazzurri team. In Italy, the price list starts at 47,400 euros turnkey.
It starts with the BYD Sealion 7 , but "similar initiatives could follow, also applied to lower-end models", according to Alfredo Altavilla , long-time manager and current special advisor of the Shenzhen-based tech company. It cannot be ruled out, therefore, that some of the dedicated programs for the purchase and rental of the vehicles could also be extended, for example, to the small electric Dolphin Surf , recently launched. The latter is offered in three versions , Active (up to 220 kilometers of autonomy in the combined WLTP cycle), Boost ( 322 kilometers of autonomy) and Comfort ( 310 kilometers of autonomy), all with a top speed of 150 km / h . It is possible to choose between two types of batteries, 30 and 43.2 kWh , and as many power levels, 88 hp (65 kW) and 156 hp (115 kW). Maximum direct current (DC) charging is 65 kW for the Active version and 85 kW for the Boost and Comfort trims. In ideal conditions, the charge goes from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes. The length of this vehicle is just under 4 meters , while the trunk capacity ranges from 316 to 1,037 liters . The price list starts at 18,990 euros turnkey.
In 2024, BYD sold over 4.2 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) thanks to a strategy focused on full electric and so-called super plug-in hybrids with DM-i technology. While waiting for a possible increase in the range, in Italy the only model ( 4,775 mm long, with a trunk with a load capacity between 425 and 1,440 liters ) offered with this engine is the Seal U DM - i SUV. Three versions are available: Boost and Comfort with front-wheel drive, and Design , with a combined range of over 1,080 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle. The latter is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180 km / h . The 18.3 kWh Blade Battery can be charged with direct current (up to 18 kW) in 35 minutes , increasing its charge from 30 to 80%. The price list starts at €39,800 turnkey.
