Escapes house arrest and armed with a knife robs supermarket

A man escaped house arrest and robbed the Tigre supermarket on Via Bruxelles. On Saturday evening, around 8:00 p.m., when the store was about to close, the man, with his face covered by a balaclava and armed with a knife, burst into the store, threatening the manager and making him hand over the takings, amounting to approximately 340 euros.
Upon receiving the report, the local police coordination officer on duty, Deputy Commander Alessandro Fortuna, immediately sent the patrols engaged in the usual anti-robbery control to the scene, which in less than thirty seconds arrived at the store and near the suspect's home. The robber, in an attempt to cover his tracks, had in fact left the supermarket to return home where he was under house arrest.
The local police officers stopped him while he was trying to hide the stolen goods. Shortly after, a patrol from the Carabinieri station intervened. The man was transferred, with no small amount of difficulty on the part of the officers and the military, and taken to prison. The weapon used to commit the robbery and the loot were seized. The entire operation was coordinated by the first director Roberto Antonelli, commander of the Local Police and by Lieutenant Nicola Rigo, commander of the Ciampino Carabinieri station.
The mayor of the city of Ciampino, lawyer Emanuela Colella, expressed "deep satisfaction for the important result achieved", personally complimenting the respective commanders of the police forces for the "professionalism and timeliness demonstrated in this delicate operation, underlining that the effective coordination between the police forces confirms the constant commitment of the institutions in guaranteeing the safety of our territory".
