WATCH THE VIDEO A record-breaking first half of the year. This is what Gorizia and Nova Gorica have achieved in terms of tourism, thanks to the spotlight they have had as the European Capital of Culture. This year's tourism has seen a 30% increase compared to last year, with consistently sold-out events and strong interest in related commercial products. The Go 2025 organizers, with director Mija Lorbek, providing the picture, emphasizes: "The program also excites tourists: we've recorded 120,000 visitors to 508 events. Major events attract 5,000 to 50,000 people, and up to 80 events take place on weekends."

Other figures highlight the boom in tourist arrivals in the region: while the average figure since the beginning of February has been a 17% increase in arrivals, the most significant increase concerns the months with the highest influx, May and June, when arrivals reached 29.9% and 29.5% respectively, with overnight stays up 33% in May and 30% in June. This was driven by the world-class initiatives offered during this time of year, most notably the arrival of the Giro d'Italia stage on May 24. Numerous tourists arrived from every corner of the world, but the increase was particularly strong in domestic Italian tourism, with a 68% increase in visitors from Lombardy and a 51% increase from Umbria.
