Gurrieri resigns from the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority.

Gurrieri resigns from the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority.
1

Antonio Gurrieri announced today, in a note sent to Minister Salvini and the President of the Adriatic Region, Fedriga, his decision to resign from his position as Extraordinary Commissioner of the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority, simultaneously renouncing his candidacy for President of the Authority.

The decision was made independently with the aim of protecting the Institution at a time when public attention risks shifting away from the merits of the ongoing administrative and strategic action.

A step back was therefore taken to allow the Port Authority to continue working in the most relaxed atmosphere possible, with a view to addressing the challenges facing the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone.

Antonio Gurrieri states: "I have chosen to resign out of a sense of responsibility and out of respect for the Authority I have had the honor of leading, even if only for a period of time. My career, spanning over thirty years with this institution, has always been characterized by compliance with the rules and institutional rigor. In this context, I reiterate that I am not under investigation for my past and present activities at the Port, nor for my role in Alpe Adria, but for private matters which I will clarify."

"I acknowledge," Gurrieri continues, "the climate that has developed, partly fueled by interests unrelated to the port's well-being, and I believe the best way to protect the Authority and its growth prospects is to step back today, so that attention can return to where it belongs: to the future of the port and its community. I sincerely thank the entire port community, the union representatives, the Authority's employees, and the institutions for their collaboration and the trust they have shown. I remain convinced that the Port of Trieste will continue to establish itself as a strategic and international driving force for the country, and I will not forget the people who have supported me so lovingly during this time."
