Israel Hamas, the news on the war. Netanyahu returns to Trump, but there is no agreement on the withdrawal from Gaza

Israel Hamas, the news on the war. Netanyahu returns to Trump, but there is no agreement on the withdrawal from Gaza

After yesterday's dinner, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returns to the White House for a second round of talks with Donald Trump: on the table in particular the management of Gaza. In Doha, meanwhile, negotiations are proceeding slowly and the United States special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff has postponed his flight from the US.

Fifth round of talks in Qatar: Ceasefire far away

A fifth round of talks in Qatar on a possible Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza has ended without significant progress, Saudi-run Asharq News reported, citing informed sources. A Palestinian official was quoted as saying that the situation is "stalemate," accusing the Israeli negotiating team of "just listening instead of negotiating" and consulting on "every issue" with officials in Israel. The official argued that the Israeli team has no authority to make concrete decisions and that this is "a continuation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's delaying policy aimed at preventing any potential agreement."

Netanyahu and Trump's meeting ended after an hour and a half

Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House for 90 minutes. Axios reports, citing sources, according to which among the differences that remain to be resolved for an agreement on Gaza is the withdrawal of the IDF from the Strip. In both the meeting on Monday and the one on Tuesday at the White House, the redeployment of Israeli troops was discussed. Hamas - Axios reports - is demanding that the IDF withdraw along the same lines established before the previous ceasefire failed in March. Israel refuses to do so. The issue of humanitarian aid has apparently been resolved, as has the request from Hamas, which wants guarantees from the United States that Israel will not be able to unilaterally start the war at the end of the 60-day ceasefire. On aid, it was agreed that in the areas of Gaza from which the IDF will withdraw, it will be provided by the UN or international organizations not affiliated with Israel or Hamas. On American guarantees, special envoy Steve Witkoff sent a message to Hamas claiming that Trump is committed to extending the ceasefire if negotiations to end the war last more than 60 days.

Netanyahu at the White House: Avoids Journalists at the Entrance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is at the White House to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, his office said. Netanyahu did not enter through the West Executive entrance, where journalists and cameras normally are.

Witkoff postpones flight to Doha: negotiations still stalled

US special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff has postponed his flight to Doha, where he was scheduled to attend ongoing talks between Israel and Hamas on the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal, two sources familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel. Witkoff was originally scheduled to leave for Qatar today, the sources said, but a new departure date has not yet been set. The US envoy has informed mediators that he still plans to travel to Doha to help finalize the deal, but his decision to postpone the trip indicates that progress is still needed.
