Kamchatka earthquake strikes, causing people to flee their homes and offices.

An 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Russia's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, July 30, triggering a tsunami, damaging buildings, and triggering evacuation warnings in the area.
Eyewitness footage shows the moment the earthquake struck, with residents gathering their belongings and running out of the building to their cars.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was shallow, at a depth of 19.3 km, with its epicenter 126 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city of 165,000 along the coast of Avacha Bay.
Kamchatka and the Russian Far East lie on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a geologically active region and therefore prone to strong earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
