Manfredonia's former sporting director Scuotto's case is troubling the club: "No salary, no answers."

A heavy silence, a paradoxical situation involving one of the most active management figures of Manfredonia Calcio last season. Livio Scuotto , the club's former sporting director, is still formally under contract, but to date he is not receiving his salary and has not received any official response from the club. The matter was brought to light by the website seried24.com , which collected the words of Juri Calabrese , the sporting director's lawyer.
"We're in a difficult situation regarding the compensation due to Director Scuotto," explained the lawyer, who also emphasized the lack of specific tools to protect figures like the Sports Director in the amateur world. "We can't turn to the federal bodies," Calabrese stated, "because there's not yet an arbitration board or arbitration panel." The result is a sort of regulatory vacuum that forces members to resort to ordinary courts, which takes a very long time.
Contract in place, but no compensationAlthough Manfredonia has duly registered for the next Serie D championship , the Scuotto case remains pending. The former sporting director—who last season made a decisive contribution to the club's survival, operating with limited resources and bringing in several valuable players— is stuck with a contract that is still valid, but hasn't received a salary or clarification .
"He can't work for others," added Calabrese, "because he has a contract with Manfredonia, but he's not getting paid." The only viable option at this point is to appeal to the civil court: an injunction , with the club's right to appeal, and then a possible ordinary trial, with the associated timeframes.
An emblematic case of contractual fragility in amateursAccording to Calabrese, the first official formal notice against the club dates back to February. Since then, no response has been received. The case highlights a structural flaw: amateur sports managers do not enjoy any specific protection , and in the absence of effective arbitration bodies, they find themselves having to face lengthy and costly legal battles to enforce their rights.
The Siponto club is currently led by Gianni Rotice , owner of Manfredonia and former mayor of the city. Rotice had announced the club's sale, but the offer was unsuccessful due to a lack of buyers. While the team works to assemble its roster for the new season, the Scuotto case remains unresolved, a matter destined to shape the debate on contractual guarantees in amateur football.
