Tragedy at home: woman killed by carbon monoxide, husband in hospital

There was nothing that could be done for her, while her husband was hospitalized at Niguarda. Tragedy in the night in via Como in Rovello Porro (Como), where a carbon monoxide leak killed an 81-year-old woman. The killer gas seems to have been produced by a combustion problem in a stove or boiler.
It all happened shortly before 1:00 a.m., when the 85-year-old woke up and called 112 saying he couldn't breathe. An ambulance from 118 arrived on the scene and, thanks to detectors, the paramedics detected the presence of carbon monoxide inside the house, requesting the intervention of the firefighters.
Two teams of firefighters from Lomazzo and Lazzate rushed to the scene and recovered an 85-year-old man and an 81-year-old woman from inside the house. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the latter: the doctor confirmed her death on the spot. The elderly man, however, was transported with a yellow code to the Niguarda hospital.
The case is currently being investigated by the Carabinieri of Lomazzo. The house has been placed under seizure to allow further investigation.
