Tristan Rogers, the legendary secret agent of General Hospital, has died.

Los Angeles, August 16, 2025 – Australian actor Tristan Rogers , the historic face of the legendary soap opera ' General Hospital ', in which he played the role of secret agent Robert Scorpio for over forty years, has died.

He died at his home in Palm Springs, California, at the age of 79 , from lung cancer , a disease he had been battling for a long time, despite never having smoked. The news of his passing was announced by his manager, Meryl Soodak.

He was Colin Atkinson in 'The Young and the Restless' and provided the voices for the animated characters in Batman Beyond and ' The Wild Thornberrys .' Vice won a Daytime Emmy for the web series Studio City .

Who was Tristan Rogers?

Born in Melbourne on June 3, 1946 , Rogers began his career in his native Australia. He then found international fame with the role of Scorpio, which he first appeared in 1980. What was supposed to be a simple two-day guest appearance turned into a decades-long contract , thanks to the charisma and energy Rogers brought to the small screen.

Scorpio and Emma Samms' love, on and off set

The character starred in memorable storylines , including the epic battle against the ' Ice Princess ', a device capable of manipulating the weather, alongside cult characters Luke and Laura . In the 1980s, Rogers and Emma Samms (Holly) formed one of the most beloved daytime couples in America: Robert and Holly Scorpio.

Their story, on and off screen, was emblematic for the way it portrayed a stable and happy relationship , far removed from the dramatic stereotypes of the genre. After an initial long stint on General Hospital from 1980 to 1992, the actor returned several times in the following decades, with appearances in 1995, 2006, 2008, from 2012 to 2016, and finally from 2018 to 2024.

Last appearance in July

His last unannounced appearance dates back to July 2025 , in a cameo that now takes on a valedictory significance. Rogers also starred in the soap opera " The Young and the Restless " as Colin Atkinson , from 2010 to 2019, and lent his voice to characters in the animated series Batman Beyond and " The Wild Thornberrys ." He also guest-starred on the web series " The Bay " and " Studio City ," winning a Daytime Emmy for the latter.

Tristan Rogers was married twice : from 1974 to 1984 to Barbara Meale , and from 1995 to Teresa Parkerson , with whom he had two children, Sara Jane and Cale.
