Two young pilgrims die at the Jubilee, the Pope expresses his grief.

Two young pilgrims died during this Jubilee. At Tor Vergata, Pope Leo asked for prayers "for Maria, a Spanish girl, and Pascale, an Egyptian girl." "We also pray for their families" and "for a Spanish boy, Ignazio Goncalves, who was admitted to the Bambino Gesù hospital."
Pascale Rafic was traveling to Rome from Egypt to participate in the Youth Jubilee. Pope Leo XIV contacted Bishop Jean-Marie Chami, Titular Bishop of Tarsus and Auxiliary of the Patriarchal Church of Antioch of the Greek Melkites for Egypt, Sudan, and South Sudan, to express "his spiritual closeness to the young woman's family and to the entire community."
The 18-year-old Egyptian had arrived in Italy for the Jubilee of Youth with the Egypt-South Sudan delegation and was staying with her group in the parish of Artena, a town in the province of Rome. She died during the night of cardiac arrest on the bus.
In sharing the grief of those affected by this tragic episode, the Holy Father assures prayers of suffrage and invokes from the Lord comfort and consolation for the family, friends and all those who mourn their loss," the Vatican Press Office reports.
