Varese - Villa Toepliz and singer-songwriter music: an evening dedicated to Giorgio Gaber at the Tre-Monti Festival - - Varese News

On Friday 1st August , in the evocative setting of the historic park of Villa Toepliz , from 8.30pm, the first edition of the Tra-Monti Festival will bring to Varese an evening dedicated to great singer-songwriter music : the protagonist will be the Banda Gaber , a quintet made up of some of the musicians who played with Giorgio Gaber, in a show enriched by musical stories narrated by the voice of Luca Nesti.

"I'll start by saying I wasn't a great expert on Gaber," Nesti says. "I discovered some wonderful lyrics, extraordinarily timely. "Il tutto è falso" comes to mind, a little-known song, an irreverent take on raising children, which has such intensity that when I listen to it, I wish I'd written it myself. Gaber is so relevant that some passages in his songs seem to have been written in this era; it's as if some of his ideas have stood still."

A project born from a reunion of the original musicians who performed with Gaber over the years and who, on the occasion of an anniversary, had come together to play together.

“My partnership with Banda Gaber began because they were looking to create a show that wasn't the standard storytelling show, but one that was contemporary. They wanted an artist who wouldn't emulate Gaber, but who, through his words, would tell his story,” he continues. “We've been touring this show for just under two years now, visiting several locations. It's a lot of fun and satisfying.”

A captivating and moving show is expected on the stage at Villa Toepliz, a tribute to Mr. G and a wonderful opportunity for younger audiences to discover a revolutionary figure in Italian music, certainly far removed from today's popular musical genres, yet still modern in perspective: "We're seeing more and more young people coming to our concerts, not just fans, but also curious people who still believe in listening to the lyrics ," concludes Luca Nesti. "This summer we have about ten dates scheduled until August, before returning to theaters in October/November. It's our first time in Varese, and we're very happy about it, especially because the person who follows us is actually from Varese, and we're proud and happy to bring this show to his city."
