The “Grandi Guglie della Grande Milano” awards were presented yesterday, an initiative promoted this morning by the Centro Studi Grande Milano , chaired by Daniela Mainini , at the Aula Magna of the State University of Milan . The winners of the award were Antonio Calabrò , president of the Assolombarda Foundation and Museimpresa, Marina Brambilla, rector of the State University, and the journalist Venanzio Postiglione .
"Milan - said Calabrò - is experiencing a complex historical situation. It risks becoming an urban area for 'city users': people who, deep down, do not feel the city as their own. They are not 'cives', that is, citizens, who make the place where they live a profound reason for belonging, where their life project takes shape. And yet, the peculiarity of Milan , throughout history, has always been its capacity for inclusion ; its ability to provide concrete answers to the questions that, little by little, were posed by its population. A characteristic that, today, we risk losing: we therefore need prompt interventions from politics and culture".
