WATCH THE VIDEO . Jfe Steel, Japan's second-largest steel producer and a global leader in automotive steel production, has chosen Danieli as its technology partner for a plan to achieve ecological transition and reduce CO2 emissions. The Buttrio-based multinational will supply a completely new steel mill at the Kurashiki site, scheduled to begin operations in early 2028. The order is valued at approximately €170 million. The plant will be the largest in the world in terms of loading capacity and will include a 500-ton electric arc furnace (EAF), equipped with a continuous charging system and horizontal preheating of scrap and pre-reduced metal, for a liquid steel production rate of approximately 410 tons per hour with 320 tons per tap. Annual production capacity will exceed 2 million tons. The plant will also be equipped with an energy recovery system that will exploit the heat from the fumes produced during melting, returning it to the preheating process of the material to be melted.

The Japanese company's total investment is $2.2 billion and is aimed at producing zero-carbon steel. Danieli will make a significant contribution to this green transition.
