Paper industry and heat risk, unions ask for a round table

Paper industry and heat risk, unions ask for a round table
1

"Even in companies in the paper and cardboard sector, even without direct exposure to the sun, there are highly risky working conditions related to heat". The territorial secretariats of the trade unions Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom of Udine thus justify the request for a meeting sent to Confindustria and Confapi after the launch, by the Regional Council, of the Heat Ordinance on Wednesday. The aim of the categories, explain the secretaries Michele Lunetta (Slc), Massimo Albanesi (Fistel) and Paolo Battaino (Uilcom), is to urgently open a table to "identify and share behavioral guidelines to deal with the heat waves we are experiencing and which potentially make carrying out work risky".

Behind the unions' request, on the one hand, is the awareness that the regional ordinance primarily concerns outdoor work activities, and on the other, the specific peculiarities of the paper industry, characterized by the presence of continuous cycle plants, which entail specific cooling needs, which are even more important when external temperatures reach critical thresholds.
