ISS confirms 111 cases of dengue and 32 cases of chikungunya

The Higher Institute of Health has Updated data on arbovirus infections released dengue, chikungunya, zika, tick-borne meningoencephalitis (TBE) e Tuscany virus. From January 1st to August 5th 2025 (weekly update) to 111 confirmed cases have been reported by the national surveillance system of dengue, including 107 cases associated with foreign travel and 4 autochthonous cases, with a median age of 41 years and 58% of infected males and no deaths. They were two different local transmission events identified dengue virus in two different regions. Further investigations are underway epidemiological investigations. From January 1st to July 29th 2025 (monthly update), at 32 confirmed cases have been reported in the national surveillance system of chikungunya, including 30 associated with foreign travel and 2 cases natives, with a median age of 46.5 years, 53% of the males infected and no deaths. For the same period of time, 4 cases of Zika virus, all imported; 23 cases of TBE (all autochthonous, median age 52 years, 57% male, no deaths) and 38 cases of Tuscany virus (all native, median age 59.5 years, 74% male, no deaths).
