Coahuila and the United States recognize rescuers who helped in the Texas floods.

In a ceremony led by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and Melissa Bishop, the U.S. Consul General in Monterrey, the Coahuila State Government presented recognition to members of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ciudad Acuña Aquatic Rescue Group, and the 911 Foundation for their outstanding work during the July 4 floods in Texas.

“In Coahuila, solidarity knows no borders!” the state leader expressed, highlighting the participation of Coahuila rescuers in the search and rescue efforts in the city of Kerrville. “Their work reflects the solidarity of our people and the good neighborliness that has always existed between Coahuila and Texas,” Jiménez Salinas noted.

During the event, four K9 teams from the State Police and the Criminal Investigation Agency were recognized for their search dogs successfully marking key points during the rescue efforts. Additionally, 12 members of the Ciudad Acuña Aquatic Rescue group and nine rescuers from the 911 Foundation participated.

Governor Manolo Jiménez highlighted the strong ties that exist between the state and Texas.

Jiménez Salinas emphasized that the deployment was possible thanks to the coordinated work between state and municipal authorities. “We are here to work as a team, to continue building the greatness of Coahuila. The best way to do this is through unity ,” he added.

The governor also recalled the historical ties that unite Coahuila and Texas, entities that two centuries ago formed a single state. "Today, Coahuila is a national example in security, quality of life, and development, and so is its relationship with Texas and the United States," he emphasized.

For her part, Consul Melissa Bishop expressed her gratitude, on behalf of the American people, for the support provided by Coahuila's emergency services. "This ceremony celebrates the solidarity that unites Mexico and the United States in difficult times. The willingness of the Coahuila rescuers to collaborate was exemplary," she said.

In his speech, the state attorney general, Federico Fernández Montañez, emphasized that the work of the canine teams was highly effective and recognized by U.S. authorities. In turn, Ciudad Acuña Fire Captain Jesús Eduardo Salas Ibarra expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to continue serving with professionalism and dedication.

The ceremony was also attended by the mayor of Saltillo, Javier Díaz González; the mayor of Acuña, Emilio de Hoyos Montemayor; local representative Claudia Aldrete García; as well as state cabinet officials and commanders from various security forces.
