From the return of 'Wednesday' to the spin-offs of 'Alien,' 'Outlander,' and 'Suits'

Three years after becoming one of Netflix's most popular series, Wednesday returns this August with its highly anticipated second season. This month also sees the release of new productions set in universes as diverse as Alien , Outlander , and Suits . Jason Momoa presents his vision of the unification of Hawaii, while from Scandinavia come two powerful true stories starring activists and an influential fashion blogger. And don't miss the most addictive miniseries of the month: Two Graves , starring Kiti Mánver as a grandmother turned detective.
The great warrior

Jason Momoa stars in and co-creates this epic historical series that chronicles the unification of Hawaii from an Indigenous perspective. Set in the late 18th century, the story follows the warrior Ka'iana as he fights to unite the islands before the arrival of Western settlers. Featuring a predominantly Polynesian cast and filmed in stunning natural settings, the series is a deeply personal project for Momoa and Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, both of Hawaiian descent. The original music is by Hans Zimmer and James Everingham.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood

A standalone prequel that expands the universe of the original saga with new love stories set between 18th-century Scotland and the years following World War I. The series follows two key couples: Jamie's parents and Claire's parents, protagonists of the original series. Through their struggle against the social and political forces that try to separate them, the series offers a mix of romance, history, and drama. With a fresh cast and plots that offer fresh perspectives, the series aims to captivate both new viewers and longtime fans.

The gothic and biting Wednesday Addams returns with more mystery and darkness in the second season of this series produced and directed by Tim Burton. Back at Nevermore Academy, she faces new threats while dealing with old rivalries, family pressure, and a chilling supernatural event. Jenna Ortega leads the cast as the enigmatic teenage heroine, joined by Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and other familiar faces. This season also adds Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez as regular characters. The platform premieres the first four episodes on August 6 and the final four on September 3.

Mads Matthiesen ( Teddy Bear ) directs this series inspired by the true events surrounding the 2007 demolition of the Youth House in Copenhagen. The story follows 22-year-old Iben and his 20-year-old partner Alex, key activists at this anarchist haven for marginalized young people who don't fit in anywhere else. When the building is unexpectedly sold to a religious sect, the two are faced with mounting tensions. While Iben tries to involve politicians and the media in his fight, Alex secretly sides with a more radical faction of the house that has lost faith in peaceful solutions.
Alien: Planet Earth

A series that transports the Alien film franchise to the year 2120. Earth is ruled by five corporations, where humans coexist with cyborgs (humans with biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence). But the rules of the game change when a new technological advancement is launched: hybrids (humanoid robots with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype marks a new beginning in the race for immortality. Sydney Chandler leads a cast that includes Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, and Naomi Watts, among others.

This Norwegian production has been critically acclaimed, winning Best Drama Series at the 2025 Gullruten Awards and receiving multiple international accolades, especially for its lead actress.

A spin-off of Suits , the series that launched Meghan Markle to fame, the plot follows Ted Black, a former New York attorney general who has reinvented himself as an elite lawyer in Los Angeles. His firm is going through a crisis, and Ted must adopt tactics he'd always avoided to keep it afloat. Surrounded by a complex cast, the series explores the tensions between loyalty and ambition as secrets that forced him to leave his former life behind are revealed. Starring Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, and Josh McDermitt, the series has not been renewed for a second season.
