Intense day of racing in Yucatán

More than 2,000 people took to the streets of Yucatán yesterday to participate in athletic events.
In Progreso, the Lighthouse Anniversary Race took place, a 5-kilometer athletic event whose participants received access to the fiscal dock. The main category was won by Luis Abraham Aquiáhuatl Vázquez from Tlaxcala, with a time of 18.52 minutes. More than 600 runners started next to the cake house.
The 3rd Powerade Race, an athletic event with a cause, took place in Bepensa Park, in western Mérida, bringing together some 2,000 people.
The organizers supported the causes of the “Be Great” program, run by the Ayelem civil association, and the “La Divina Misericordia” home for the homeless elderly.
The Bepensa Powerade Race awarded prizes to the best athletes in each category and donated the registration fees to the beneficiary organizations.
The fourth edition of the Santa Cruz Race took place at the Kukulcán Sports Complex, which awarded prizes of more than 20,000 pesos. Nearly 300 runners and walkers attended the event, held on the facility's trails. Children's activities were also held, with a large turnout.
