According to Melesio himself, he was heading towards the streets of the Government Palace and Santiago Cathedral , in the Saltillo 2000 neighborhood, but his cell phone's GPS diverted him to the first square of the city . He was traveling east to west on Jacobo M. Aguirre , and when he reached the intersection with Abasolo, he failed to comply with the mandatory stop sign .
This caused his motorcycle to impact the right rear bumper of a moving Chevrolet Sonic . The young man was thrown to the pavement , suffering abrasions to his hand, right arm, and hip .
Although he was evaluated by paramedics, he refused to be taken to a hospital , opting instead to call his employer to take responsibility for the damages . Municipal Traffic officers also responded to the scene to take note of the accident and facilitate an agreement between the parties involved.
This incident adds to the increasingly frequent accidents involving motorcyclists in downtown areas, where distraction, lack of knowledge of the roads and failure to observe traffic signs have been recurring factors.
