Seven Cuban migrants rescued from extortion in Chiapas

A group of seven Cuban migrants , including a minor, who were victims of extortion, were rescued by the State Attorney General's Office ( FGE ) on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a statement from the state agency, after conducting a search warrant at a property located in the downtown area of this town, approximately 15 kilometers from the border with Guatemala , three men and an equal number of women, as well as a minor, were rescued.

The migrants were allegedly victims of the crime of extortion, and therefore, the Immigration Prosecutor's Office , within the framework of an investigation file for the crime of extortion, carried out said diligence, against those found responsible.
He added that the people were being held captive and abandoned by the alleged perpetrators, who demanded $10,000 for each of them from their families to allow them to continue their journey across the country.

The individuals in the mobility situation were transferred to the prosecutor's office for specialized care and for their statements to be collected, in order to determine the veracity of the events and continue the compilation of the investigation file.
