President Claudia Sheinbaum leads her morning press conference from the National Palace this Tuesday, February 25, 2025 , accompanied by her presidential Cabinet.

President Claudia Sheinbaum's Security Cabinet presented its security report, where it outlined the seven municipalities where the most homicides were reported in February 2024.

It was explained that the information is collected from data shared by the 32 prosecutors' offices in the country. The states with the most intentional homicides are Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Baja California, Sinaloa, Michoacán, Tabasco and Sonora.

• After the letter that 'El Mayo' Zambada sent to the Government of Mexico to request his repatriation was made known, President Sheinbaum added that these types of people must face Mexican justice and within the framework of the law, because Zambada has investigation files in the country. " We do not fall for blackmail or threats , we fulfill our responsibility with the Constitution and the laws," added the president. The president said that the letter will be attended to as would be done with that of any other Mexican and assured that it will be the head of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), Alejandro Gertz, who will report on the chronology of how the agency has worked since the arrest of 'El Mayo' Zambada .
• President Sheinbaum spoke about the health of Pope Francis , whom she wished a speedy recovery and that he recovers. “ We send him our wish that he recovers very soon because he represents a lot for humanity, beyond the Catholic religion,” the president added. Sheinbaum assured that Pope Francis has a progressive ideology and recalled two encyclicals of the Pontiff, one dedicated to the protection of nature and the other with a reflection on neoliberalism.
• When questioned about the lawyer Juan Pablo Penilla , allegedly linked to 'El Mayo' Zambada, President Sheinbaum assured that she does not know him and that during his tours he takes photos with many people regarding an image that circulates on social networks. "It is to guarantee the people of Mexico that we do not establish relationships of complicity with anyone. Let the prosecutor's office investigate and reach the final consequences with whoever it may be," she added. The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Gutiérrez , reported that in 2023 the PAN recognized the professional career as Juan Pablo Penilla 's lawyer and distinguished him as “Ambassador for Peace.”
