Jiménez Salinas highlighted the importance of the expansion of Highway 57 in the section from Monclova to Saltillo . “The expansion of the Saltillo-Monclova highway is very important for the state, it will increase our competitiveness ,” he said. This work, which is expected to be ready by 2026, will improve the state’s competitiveness and make it more attractive for trade across Coahuila ’s borders, the governor mentioned.
According to Jiménez Salinas, the expansion of Highway 57 to four lanes from Mexico City to Piedras Negras will be an important driver for the state's trade and economy. He also mentioned that this project will be added to the investment in the Piedras Negras fiscal route and the expansion of the concession of Puente 2, which will be beneficial for the region.
“Bridge 2 is being expanded, it is being expanded in Eagle Pass, they are also bringing their expansion project. On this side of the customs area, it is already being expanded to 12 lanes, the fiscal route that we are going to build, the Saltillo-Monclova highway and with that we are opening a super commercial highway to our state ,” he said.
Regarding security, Jiménez Salinas stressed that coordination between federal and state authorities has yielded good results in the border region. “We have a very strong operation, very intense security measures in conjunction with the armed forces and the United States authorities,” he said. He also mentioned that measures have been implemented to prevent and combat crime in the region.
The state leader also said that he was present in La Ribereña delivering equipment and works and mentioned that more than 70 million pesos have been invested in the construction of barracks and sentry boxes in the region, as well as in infrastructure and equipment.
Regarding AHMSA, Jiménez Salinas mentioned that the President of Mexico is interested in finding a solution for the families affected by the company's situation. He mentioned that work is being done to reactivate the company and rehire the workers .
“ It was one of the main situations that I mentioned to the president because the trustee is already bringing the liquidation of the company, which is a route that is going to happen and the important thing here is that, if that is the route and it is going to happen, then whoever enters the liquidation, whoever wins the liquidation, then they are committed, not obliged, but committed to reactivating the company and rehiring the workers,” he concluded.
