The Federation takes the match-fixing case to the FGR

Ten days after suspending seven players for alleged match-fixing in the Premier League , the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced yesterday that it will file a complaint for these events with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) , in addition to taking other measures to prevent something similar from happening again.
The players received a combined ban of 57 years . Six of the seven players played for Real Apodaca in the Premier League , and one for Correcaminos UAT , in the same category.
One player from Apodaca and another from Correcaminos received 16-year suspensions each.
In addition to filing complaints, the Mexican Federation announced that it will push through the Federal Congress a bill to toughen penalties for players who participate in such practices.
The governing body of Mexican football added that, together with the Mexican Footballers Association, it will promote awareness workshops “on the importance of protecting the integrity of their professional careers and of our sport.”
"The FMF reiterates its absolute rejection of this type of illegal practices that should not take place in our sport and we will continue working with clubs, authorities and players in favor of transparency, justice and the integrity of football in Mexico," the organization itself stated.
When announcing the penalties, the Mexican Federation also said it would notify FIFA of the punishments so that they can be applied outside the country.
In addition, the Disciplinary Commission warned the two clubs that in the event of a repeat offense, a process will be initiated to disaffiliate them from the Mexican Federation.
The Mexican Football Federation said that all league presidents, including amateur ones, have been notified of the consequences of fixing matches.
According to local media, the players, who were involved in betting, intentionally lost matches and even let themselves win by two goals or more to meet odds.
